IRONMAN has published 74 qualifying races for the 2027 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, which is in Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 28 and 29 August 2027. Between them they carry 4,010 age-group slots. Every race gives men and women the same number: 25 each at 44 races, 30 each at 29, and 35 each at Jönköping, the European Championship. So the 70.3 Worlds slots per race in 2027 come to 50 or 60 at almost every qualifier.

Unlike Kona, the men and women split here is official, not a guess. But the same number of slots doesn't mean the same chance. Women's fields are much smaller, so a women's slot goes far deeper into the field. Below is every race, with what the slots work out to per 100 finishers for men and for women, from the field in our race database.

How many 70.3 Worlds slots does each race have in 2027?

Most races have 50 slots (25 men, 25 women). Another 29 have 60 (30 and 30). That includes every qualifier in the US and Canada, six in Europe, Sunshine Coast in Australia, and Valdivia and Cartagena in South America. Jönköping has 70. IRONMAN's list also has two small extra entries marked HC at Luxembourg (2 men, 1 woman) and Western Australia (1 man, 1 woman). The page doesn't say what HC means, so we've left those out of the totals.

Two races gave out slots for two championships at once. Les Sables d'Olonne and Jönköping, both on 5 July 2026, were also the last races on IRONMAN's 2026 list, with 25 slots each for men and women for the 2026 championship. So on race day Jönköping had 60 slots per gender and Les Sables 50. The numbers on this page count only the 2027 slots.

Every age group's winner gets the first slot in that age group. If the winner says no, it can roll down to second and then third. Everything left goes into a Performance Pool for each gender, where athletes are ranked on age-graded time and slots roll down until they're all taken. Our guide to qualifying for 70.3 Worlds explains the whole process.

70.3 Worlds slots per race: the full 2027 list

Races are listed by date. Slots each is the number for men and the same number again for women, from IRONMAN's list. Per 100 men is men's slots per 100 male finishers, and per 100 women is women's slots per 100 female finishers, from the most recent edition in our database. The caption under each table says which year's field we used. The higher the number, the deeper the slots go.

Men and women get the same number of slots

IRONMAN runs the 70.3 World Championship as separate races for men and women, so each qualifier has an equal but separate number of slots for each. That's different from Kona, where the Performance Pool is split by how many men and women start.

Women are about one in five finishers at a typical 70.3 on our data. So the same 25 or 30 slots are shared by far fewer people. Across the 62 races we have, the median is 2.3 men's slots per 100 men and 7.8 women's slots per 100 women. Women's slots go deeper at every race on the list.

Even IRONMAN 70.3 Oregon, which had the most women of any qualifier in our data (912 of 2,389 finishers), works out to 3.3 women's slots per 100 women against 2.0 for men. At the other end, Encarnacion had 43 women finish in 2026 for 25 women's slots.

At a typical qualifier, the men's slots reach about the top 2% of male finishers and the women's slots about the top 8% of female finishers. Our 70.3 Worlds qualifying times by age group post shows what those places look like in finish time.

Where 70.3 Worlds slots go deepest for men

Small fields far from the big triathlon markets have the most slots per finisher. Dhofar in Oman had just 169 male finishers in 2025 for 25 men's slots (14.8 per 100). Next come Encarnacion in Paraguay (10.5), Campeche in Mexico (9.4), Desaru Coast in Malaysia (7.6), Agadir in Morocco (6.4) and Langkawi (6.1).

The big European races are at the other end. Les Sables d'Olonne had 2,147 male finishers for 25 slots (1.2 per 100). Luxembourg had 1,953 male finishers in 2025 for 25 slots (1.3). Knokke-Heist and Italy Emilia-Romagna (both 1.5) aren't far behind.

Where 70.3 Worlds slots go deepest for women

For women the gap is even wider. Dhofar had 34 female finishers for 25 slots, Encarnacion 43 and Desaru Coast 53. At Dhofar, that's about three slots for every four women who finished. Goa (36.2 per 100), Agadir (35.2), Lapu-Lapu (32.1) and Campeche (31.6) are next.

The races where women's slots are hardest to come by are the ones with the biggest women's fields: Oregon (3.3), North Carolina (4.5), Washington Tri-Cities (4.8), Duisburg (4.9) and Maine and Augusta (both 5.0).

Races still to come in the 2027 cycle

As of 26 October 2026, 16 races on the list are still to come, from Kenting and Goa on 1 November to IRONMAN 70.3 Florida on 13 December. If you haven't qualified yet, these are your options with published slots.

For men, the deepest are Campeche (9.4 per 100), Langkawi (6.1) and Florida (4.3), followed by Goa and Phu Quoc. La Quinta (1.8) and Mossel Bay (1.9) are the most crowded for men.

For women, Goa (36.2), Campeche (31.6), Langkawi (27.8), Phu Quoc (24.8) and Kenting (19.8) stand out. La Quinta (5.3) and Mossel Bay (5.6) are the most crowded. Veracruz and Bahrain are on the list but not in our database yet.

What about races held in 2027?

IRONMAN says the 2027 slot allocation covers events held in 2026. No race held in 2027 has 70.3 Worlds slots on the list yet, and IRONMAN hasn't said when that will change.

Last cycle gives a hint. IRONMAN's 2026 list ran from 6 July 2025 to 5 July 2026, so races in the first half of 2026 counted for the 2026 championship. That's what happened last time, not a promise for 2027. Check the official qualifying events page before you register for a 2027 race expecting a slot.

Slots per finisher are not the same as your odds

This list tells you how crowded each race is. It doesn't tell you how fast you need to go. IRONMAN shares the Performance Pool on age-graded time, and a small race can still draw a few very fast athletes chasing a slot.

To compare races on speed, look at your own age group. Every race page shows the top-5% time for each age group, men and women. Our easiest 70.3 races to qualify ranking sorts every 70.3 by how fast its top finishers are, and our guide to the easiest 70.3 races to qualify explains how to use it.

Racing a full Ironman instead?

This page is about 70.3 races, which qualify you for the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship. Full-distance races qualify you for the IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, a separate race with its own qualifiers. See our Kona slots per race 2027 list for that path.

Find your race

Pick two or three races from the list and open their pages in our race database. Then put your expected splits into the race estimator to see where you would have placed in each race's past field, in your age group. If you would have made the top 5% of your age group, you're in the running.

About the data

  • Slot numbers come from IRONMAN's 2027 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship qualifying events list, checked on 26 October 2026. IRONMAN can still change them.
  • Men's and women's slots are equal at every race on the main list because IRONMAN gives each qualifier "an equal but separate number of qualifying slots" for men and women. The small HC entries are the exception: Luxembourg's is 2 men and 1 woman.
  • Les Sables d'Olonne and Jönköping also appear on IRONMAN's 2026 qualifying list with 25 slots each per gender. Their per-100 numbers use only the 2027 slots.
  • Finisher numbers come from the most recent edition of each race in our database. For most races already held in 2026, that's the field that raced for 2027 slots. Six races held in 2026 (Luxembourg, Ohio, New York, Waco, Dhofar, Agadir) still show their 2025 field until we add the 2026 results.
  • We use finishers, not starters, because finisher counts are what we have for every race. Starters are a little higher, so the real per-100 numbers are a little lower.
  • Dhofar is in Salalah, Oman. We matched it to our IRONMAN 70.3 Salalah 2025 results.
  • Twelve races aren't in our database yet: Ruidoso New Mexico, Vitoria-Gasteiz, Northern California, Leipzig, Baku, Dali, Versailles, Sharm El-Sheikh, Málaga, Costa Navarino (Greece), Veracruz, Bahrain. They're listed with their slots only.
  • The two HC entries on IRONMAN's list (Luxembourg and Western Australia, 5 slots in all) are left out of the 4,010 total because the page doesn't explain them.

Frequently asked questions

How many 70.3 Worlds slots does each race have in 2027?
Most 2027 qualifiers have 25 slots for men and 25 for women. 29 races have 30 each, and IRONMAN 70.3 Jönköping (European Championship) has 35 each. That's from IRONMAN's 2027 qualifying events list as of 26 October 2026, and IRONMAN can still change it.
Do men and women get the same number of 70.3 Worlds slots?
Yes. The 70.3 World Championship has separate races for men and women, so every qualifier has an equal but separate number of slots for each. Because women's fields are smaller, women's slots go much deeper: a median of 7.8 per 100 female finishers against 2.3 per 100 male finishers across the 62 races in our data.
Which 2027 qualifier has the most 70.3 Worlds slots?
IRONMAN 70.3 Jönköping, the European Championship, with 70 for 2027 (35 men, 35 women). On race day it also gave out 25 men's and 25 women's slots for the 2026 championship. Per finisher, small races such as Dhofar in Oman, Encarnacion in Paraguay and Campeche in Mexico have the most on our data.
When will IRONMAN publish slots for 70.3 races held in 2027?
IRONMAN says the current allocation covers events held in 2026. As of 26 October 2026 it hasn't said when races held in 2027 will be added. Last cycle, the 2026 list ran from July 2025 to early July 2026, but that's a precedent, not a promise, so check the official qualifying events page before you register.
Where is the 2027 IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship?
Chattanooga, Tennessee, on 28 and 29 August 2027, according to IRONMAN's event page. You qualify at any IRONMAN 70.3 race on the 2027 qualifying list and accept your slot in person at the roll-down.
